Our History
In 2013, God called Pastor John Harvey to help start a church in Starkville, MS. Under the Guidance of Pastor Jimmy Banks of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Columbus, MS, both men, saw the need for an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church in the city. Through much prayer, and a handful of people, God allowed them to plant the church February 16, 2014. Since that time we have seen the Lord answer many prayers, and have seen several come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We pray you will come be our guest. We would love to be of service to you and your family.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Shining Light Baptist Church is to first glorify God. We desire to see many people saved as we give the gospel. We also desire that each person, who claims to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, would live in an intimate personal relationship with God.
